Here is an example of how, with a few minor tweaks, you can use the templates to make it “your own” brand. Maybe you are unsure exactly what changes can be made to the templates or how they will look. And you know how fond I am of ”before” and “after” snapshots, so here is a design example to show you how simple it is.
I worked up an example based on a customer’s inquiry. She didn’t think any of the marketing sets would fit her new logo and color scheme. Oh, contraire, my dear Amanda. The Metropolitan Marketing set will work perfectly:)
First, be familiar with your layers pallet and don’t be afraid to play around with it. If you are worried, then open your template and “save as” a sample so you won’t damage the original and then – get your hands dirty! In most cases you can change, move, edit, recolor, or eliminate what you don’t want. THAT, my friends, is how you customize. With that being said:
I took the Metropolitan and worked up a sample to show how easy it is to achieve a custom look for yourself.

Here’s what I did:
1-) I took Amanda’s logo and used my “eyedropper” tool to color pick from her logo. Jot the #’s down on a scratch paper if would like.
2-) Then select the layer in the layers pallet that you want to edit.
3-) Then select the “magic wand” in the tools and click on the portion you want to change.
4-) Then backspace to eliminate the original color.
5-) Then pick your desired color and dump the “paint bucket” to replace the color with the new color.
Rinse and repeat. OK, don’t rinse, just repeat in all the areas that you want to change.
On this example, I changed the background, label, frame, inside frame, spine, and lace. Then I removed (or turned off the eyeball to the layer) of the things I didn’t want, like the flowers; back label; sample logo; etc. that came with the original template. Then added the customers logo, and Voila! , it now looks like her very own brand, color scheme, and professional product! Play until you have it how you want it and always remember to “save as” each revision so you can go back and make changes and keep the integrity of the original template.
Once you are happy with your edits and changes, flatten your image and “save as” a jpeg. This is what you will send to the printer.
*I DO NOT offer custom logos or templates. This was simply a good opportunity to show how easy it is to “make it your own”. I hope this helps you realize that the templates can easily be CUSTOMIZED by you to fit your own personal needs. It’s “off the rack” designer, eh?!
**This same technique is how you CUSTOMIZE albums too.
